Our Approach to Placements
Our approach to placements is grounded in safety, stability and safeguarding. We aim to provide a consistent, child-centred environment where clear boundaries, predictable routines and positive relationships help young people feel secure, understood and supported.
Placement suitability is considered on an individual basis, in close discussion with the placing authority and with careful consideration of the young person’s needs and our ability to provide safe, consistent and appropriate support.
When considering a potential placement, we look at the individual child or young person’s needs, strengths and circumstances. We work with placing authorities to understand what stability would look like for that young person, what support they may require day to day and how we can provide safe, consistent and appropriate support.
Data Sensitivity
Please do not include detailed case histories, full reports or highly sensitive personal information in an initial enquiry. If it is appropriate to explore a potential placement further, we will agree a suitable and secure way to share more detailed information.
What Happens Next
Step 1: Initial Enquiry
We review the initial information provided and consider whether it may be appropriate to explore the enquiry further.
Step 2: Assessment & Suitability
If appropriate, we discuss the young person’s needs, circumstances and placement requirements with the placing authority to consider whether Rivan may be a suitable option.
Step 3: Professional Engagement
We work with the placing authority and relevant professionals to understand the proposed placement, clarify support needs and discuss any information required to inform the decision.
Step 4: Placement & Support
We share our view with the placing authority and, where appropriate, discuss next steps. Any decision about a placement is made in discussion with the placing authority and subject to the relevant placement processes.
